Cotton tape and neutral paper
While waiting for the binding, you can use some cotton tape and some acid-free paper to hold together the detached cover and the book block.

Sewed endpapers
Ask the bookbinder for a new seam, made with cotton or hemp thread, using a support like cotton tape or string cord …and new endpapers sewn to the book for making the anchorage of the cover stronger.
